Instructions To Configure Comcast.net Email Account With Microsoft Outlook 2010

Microsoft Outlook is a personal information management software and an e-mail client that comes as a part of Microsoft’s Office suite. With Outlook 2010, users can configure their Comcast.net account by tweaking Outlook settings so that they can send and receive emails directly from their Outlook interface.

Configuring Comcast account with Outlook 2010 is relatively an easy task and the process is almost the same as of the earlier versions of Outlook, except for some Menu title changes. Follow the instructions listed below to set up your Comcast.net account with Outlook 2010.

Instructions:

  • Launch Microsoft Outlook application from the Windows Menu tray.
  • Once the application has launched, click File and select Account Information. Further, select Add Account. You will receive Add New Account wizard on your screen.
  • Choose a display name for your Comcast.net account on Outlook. Fill in your Comcast email address and the password into the corresponding fields and then click Next. Now wait until your configuration page loads up.
  • During this phase, the Outlook application will identify your Comcast account and will automatically log into the Comcast email server. This might take several minutes depending upon the speed of your internet.
  • If your outlook fails to establish a connection, wait for a few more minutes and then hit Retry. You can also connect manually by clicking the Manually configure server settings link from the Outlook settings option.
  • For manual set up, you will have to enter the incoming and outgoing server settings into the new wizard that opens up after clicking the manual set up link. Type in mail.comcast.net into the incoming mail server field and smtp.comcast.net into the outgoing mail server field!
  • Now click Open Connection type list by clicking the dropdown arrow adjacent to it and choose POP3 from it. You also need to type in your login information, which in most cases will be automatically filled in by the wizard itself.  Click Next to continue and then click Finish to complete the process. Now Outlook will attempt to reestablish a connection with your Comcast.net account. You will now be able to use your Comcast.net account with Microsoft Outlook 2010.
