Troubleshooting Startup Errors


Sometimes when you boot your computer to perform a task that needs to be completed urgently, the machine may display error messages upon start up. Instructions

Run the CD of Windows XP
Take the CD-ROM for installing Windows XP, and insert into the disc drive. Now restart the computer, and to boot the CD, and press any key.
When the Welcome screen appears on the screen, press the Enter key. Go through the license agreement and move to the bottom of the page and press the F8 key.
To repair the startup error and to rebuild the components of Windows, Press the R key. This will take some time to process and then finish.
Run the CD of Windows Vista and Windows 7
Take a CD of Windows Vista or Windows 7, and insert it into the disc drive.
Now restart the computer and press any key so that the CD gets booted into upon starting.
Select the language settings and click Next.
Select the computer that you want to repair, and select Next.
On the System Recovery menu, select Startup Repair. The tool will get the startup errors repaired, and restart your computer.
Start Windows Advanced Options
Restart your computer and tap the F8 key continuously, till you find the Windows Advanced Options Menu on the screen.
Now choose Last Known Good Configuration… and then click Enter.
Let the computer restart.

Steps To Repair Windows 98 Internet Explorer Script Error

Switch on your laptop or desktop.
Select the Settings label from the Start menu pop-up, followed by the selection of Control panel.
Switch from Category View to Detailed View. Select the Internet option from the Control Panel window.
Select the Fonts label on the standard General tab.
Select the Western option from Character Sets. Select the Set as Default option and then select the OK option.
Launch the Internet properties menu. Select the Delete Files option from the General tab. Click OK twice to bring the changes in effect.
Either go in for installing Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1, or for uninstalling and reinstalling the version you already have.
Repair Web View-based Script Errors
Launch the Start menu by clicking on the start icon, located in the bottom left corner of the home screen.
Select Windows Explorer option from the Start menu pop up.
Find the folders and files that are causing script errors to appear.
Select the option View from the Menu Bar. Click on the Customize This Folder option. After selecting the Customize This Folder option, select the Remove Customization option.
Click on Next, and then on Finish to exit.
Try to reinstall Windows 98 if script error issues persist, while viewing Windows folders to refresh the Windows Desktop Update feature.
